GermanyThe challenge
Ledcon was commissioned by Hisense, one of the main sponsors of the 1st league Schalke 04, to build the new LED cube for the Veltins Arena. In addition to production, the challenge was to lower the old LED modules and safely place the new video cube at a height of 30 metres. To ensure that the video cube, consisting of 216 modules, could be mounted without damage, the frame of the cube could not be tensioned when moving. The weight of 30 tons and the size of the cube as well as the sensitivity of the frame made this even more difficult and necessitated the use of special equipment. The Situation/Circumstances
The lifting and fixing of the largest LED cube in Europe was only possible with the 2 LGH load-spreader beams, each with a load-spreading capacity of 40 tonnes and a length of 8 metres. 6 beam clamps and 8 round slings were also used. Together with the 12 shackles, an even load distribution at the anchor points and thus a smooth process could be guaranteed.LGH Equipment Used
2x Load-beams, 6x Beam clamps, 8x Round slings, 12x Shackles
